QCC's HomePlate & Resource Center Takes a Bite Out of Hunger
It’s Official. The QCC HomePlate Food Pantry & Resource Center has opened to all students. On September 20, the food pantry had a soft opening to get out the kinks and on September 25, it opened to all students.
According to Manager of Student Resources, Bonnie Coleman, over 100 students have already found their way to the new and improved food pantry and she anticipates that number will grow steadily as the words gets out to students.
The HomePlate Food Pantry & Resource Center has more than doubled in size and now has a state-of-the-art electronic software system, “SmartChoice,” that enables students to select prepackaged baskets of food in a safe, contact-free way.
“Once students register to use the food pantry, they are able to go online, find out what food is available for the week, and order what they need. They will set up an appointment to pick up their food, which will be set aside for them when they arrive,” Ms. Coleman said. “The new state-of the art software streamlines the process of using the food pantry for our students.”
Food Pantry services will be in Room B65A in the Administration Building on:
- Monday: Noon – 5:00 p.m.
- Tuesday: 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
