QCC Veterans Are Invited to Dare To Dream Ranch Retreat

July 2021
  • Dare to Dream Ranch
QCC Veterans are invited to an October retreat at Dare to Dream Ranch.

Director of Veteran Affairs, Paula Ogden, works closely with the QCC Veterans Club to excite and engage QCC veterans in a variety of activities and events designed to support veterans. Events have included both on and off campus activities to facilitate a welcoming environment, where veterans can network and support each other.

A retreat designed for veterans that was rescheduled from last year will now take place on Saturday, October 23, 2021 (rain date Oct. 24) from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and is open to QCC veterans and any QCC employee who is a veteran.

The all-day event is free to veterans and family members. It will include archery, hiking, yoga and equine therapy.  Lunch will also be provided.

Just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Ogden was watching the news when she saw a story about the Dare to Dream Ranch in Foster, Rhode Island. Dare to Dream Ranch, Inc. is a holistic and alternative military retreat for service members, veterans and their families. The story resonated with Ms. Ogden and she reached out to the Ranch to see if she could coordinate a retreat for QCC veterans. They were more than accommodating; however, the pandemic put the planned retreat on hold until this year.

“This is just one of the many upcoming activities we planned,” Ms.Ogden said, adding to be on the lookout for information on a U.S.S. Constitution private tour and the American Heritage Museum’s WWII reenactment.

Those interested in the Dare to Dream Ranch retreat should RSVP Ms.Ogden at pogden [at] qcc.mass.edu. Visit Veterans Affairs to learn more.
