April 2016

AiVi Nguyen

QCC Trustee AiVi Nguyen will receive the Prestigious Katharine F. Erskine Award for her involvement in the community, especially working with first-generation college students.

The award was presented May 3 at the Tribute to Women luncheon by the YWCA. Ms. Nguyen is one of five area women being recognized for their high achievement in their professions and their community.

Ms. Nguyen practices as a trial lawyer and focuses on business litigation and employment litigation. She is the youngest-ever partner at Bowditch & Dewey, where she serves as chairwoman of the firm’s Diversity Committee.

She is a trustee of Quinsigamond Community College and a board member for Bottom Line, a nonprofit high school college prep program that helps low-income first-generation students get to and through college. Ms. Nguyen also is a member of the city of Worcester’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council and is a corporator of the Greater Worcester Community Foundation.

As a member of the City of Worcester’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, she helps the municipal government and businesses recognize the importance of embracing the city’s diverse cultural background.

She is a member of the Worcester County Bar Association, Asian American Lawyers Association of Massachusetts, National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and Young Professional Women’s Association.

Recipients of the Erskine Award show a commitment to the YWCA mission — eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all — as well as reaching exemplary levels of achievement in their professions and communities and serving as a role model for women and girls.
