WORCESTER, Ma – Quinsigamond Community College will be celebrating national Week of the Young Child, April 13 – 19, with events at the Children’s School on campus.

The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world's largest early childhood education association. Throughout the week and through April 25, various guests from QCC and the community will be on hand to read books to the preschool children, including President Gail Carberry on April 25 at 10:45am.

On April 16 from 6:00pm – 8:30pm, the Worcester Association for the Education of Young Children will hold their celebration event on campus, which will bring together 21 Worcester area child care centers, including QCC’s Children’s School, to be recognized for being accredited under the new NAEYC accreditation process.  QCC’s Nancy Knight, Director of the Children’s School, is the Worcester Association co-president.

“This year the theme stresses two important messages,” Knight stated. “Children are an integral, vital part of each community and we should all join together to support children and improve their opportunities. We look forward to the community joining us during these special weeks.”
