QCC Receives $675K in Adult Education Transition to College Funding

WORCESTER, MA— October 2, 2023 — Quinsigamond Community College was awarded $675,000 in Transition to College funding from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). The funding covers a three-year period and will go towards QCC’s Future Focus program, which supports adult learners from adult basic education programs.

Dr. Linda Maykel Appointed Chair of QCC Board of Trustees

WORCESTER, MA— September 14, 2023 — Dr. Linda Maykel has been appointed chair of Quinsigamond Community College’s Board of Trustees by Governor Maura Healey as of July 2023. Maykel has been a QCC board member since 2022; was the former QCC Foundation board president from 2018 to 2022 and served as a clinical instructor for QCC’s Dental Hygiene Clinic.

Maykel noted that her dedication to the QCC community comes from a deep love of education.

QCC Partners With Worcester Regional Food Hub

WORCESTER, MA— September 11, 2023 — Quinsigamond Community College has partnered with Worcester Regional Food Hub to provide fresh food to students, faculty, and staff. Each week there will be rotating local food vendors who will sell food on QCC’s West Boylston Street campus. A majority of the vendors servicing QCC are run by QCC alumni.

QCC to Host Saturday Registration Event

WORCESTER, MA— August 25, 2023 — Quinsigamond Community College is hosting a “Super Saturday” registration event on Saturday, August 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will be held on QCC’s main campus at 670 West Boylston Street, Worcester in the Harrington Learning Center.

QCC Awards $1.2 Million to Students Under MassReconnect Program

WORCESTER, MA— August 24, 2023 — Quinsigamond Community College has awarded 410 students a total of $1.2 million to cover tuition, fees and books under Massachusetts’s new MassReconnect program that makes community college free for eligible Massachusetts residents aged 25 and older. WORCESTER, MA— August 15, 2023 — Quinsigamond Community College is poised to award free college tuition, fees and an allowance for books and supplies to hundreds of new and returning students for the Fall 2023 semester under Massachusetts’s new MassReconnect program that makes community college free for eligible Massachusetts residents aged 25 and older.

QCC Honor Society Wins National Award

WORCESTER, MA— August 9, 2023 — Quinsigamond Community College’s Psi Beta Honor Society has recently received the Chapter Excellence Award from the Psi Beta National Council. This award recognizes Psi Beta chapters that provide multiple activities which engage student members in service, research, leadership, and scholarship. Psi Beta is the national honor society in psychology for community colleges and is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies.

QCC Employee Named President of New England Association of Higher Education and Disability

WORCESTER, MA— August 3, 2023 — The New England Association of Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) has announced that Terri S. Rodriguez, associate director of Student Accessibility Services at Quinsigamond Community College, has been elected AHEAD president for the 2023-2024 academic year. Rodriguez served on the board of New England AHEAD since 2015 as the community college representative, moving into the role of vice president/president-elect last year. She is the first representative of a community college to be elected president of the organization.

Simulation Equipment Making a Difference for QCC Nursing Students

WORCESTER, MA— June 27, 2023 — At Quinsigamond Community College, recently updated equipment in the college’s nursing labs is giving students hands-on experience that prepares them for a career in nursing. The latest state-of-the-art equipment features simulation manikins such as a birthing manikin that delivers a baby, interacts with students through speech and movement and displays vital signs. The equipment was purchased through funding from a $499,815 Skills Capital Grant Program that was awarded to QCC in 2022.
