Social Justice and Community Service Go Hand-in-Hand for QCC Students

WORCESTER, MA— September 27, 2022—Four Quinsigamond Community College students, Britney Acquah, Whitney Acquah, Gabrielle Gedeon, and Eva Kadriu just wrapped up a summer working with youths in area community-based organizations. Known as Woo Labs Hanover Fellows, the students were chosen by the Woo-Labs program, an organization that began in 2021 through the Worcester Education Collaborative in partnership with area organizations. The program offers community-focused, equitable, project-based learning to K-12 students.

QCC’s Legislative Breakfast and Food Pantry Ribbon Cutting Spotlighted Student Hunger

WORCESTER, MA— September 26, 2022 — Local legislators, community organizations, food pantry donors, and members of the Quinsigamond Community College community gathered together on Friday, September 23, 2022, for a legislative breakfast and ribbon cutting of the college’s HomePlate Food Pantry and Resource Center.  The morning events featured QCC students who shared their stories and the impact the food pantry and resource center has had on theirs and their students’ lives.

WHAT:  Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) has invited local and state legislators and donors of the QCC HomePlate Food Pantry and Resource Center to a breakfast and ribbon cutting. The breakfast will showcase the work that QCC does in Worcester and Central Massachusetts, including its innovative programs and support services, the impact that QCC has in the community, and the transformative power of higher education.

Quinsigamond Community College and UniCare Partner to Improve Community Health

WORCESTER, MASS. — Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) and UniCare are partnering to improve community health, beginning with offering free yoga classes to the Worcester community on Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1. The classes will be held at 9 a.m. both days at the QCC soccer field at 670 West Boylston Street in Worcester and are open to all. UniCare is a Massachusetts-based health company providing access to healthcare for nearly 200,000 state and municipal workers across the Commonwealth.

QCC Receives $160,000 in Funding for Culinary Re-Entry Programs

WORCESTER, MA— September 12, 2022— Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) has received $160,000 in funding to continue its food service worker training program for previously incarcerated individuals. The Re-Entry Workforce Development Demonstration Program is an initiative of the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development Secretary, Rosalin Acosta, and provides industry-supported curriculum in culinary training for post-release students, as well as assistance with career readiness and job placement.

Worcester County Bar Association and Quinsigamond Community College to Host MA Attorney General Candidates Forum

                         Councilor Andrea Campbell, Attorney Shannon Liss-Riordan, and Deputy General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Commerce, Quentin Palfrey. The Republican candidate is Attorney Jay McMahon.

Worcester County Bar Association and Quinsigamond Community College to Host MA Attorney General Candidates Forum

WORCESTER, MA— August 22, 2022— The Worcester County Bar Association and Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) are hosting a candidates’ forum for the Massachusetts Attorney General on Wednesday, August 24 at 4:30 p.m. on QCC’s main campus (670 West Boylston Street, Worcester) in the Hebert Auditorium. The event will be moderated by Gina Plata-Nino, an attorney with the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, and executive committee member of the Worcester County Bar Association.

QCC Receives Close to Half Million in Skills Capital Grant for Nursing Labs

WORCESTER, MA— August 9, 2022— Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) was recently awarded $499,815 in Skills Capital Grant funding, which will be used to update three nursing labs at its Healthcare and Workforce Development Center, located in downtown Worcester. The labs enable nursing students to have hands-on training on the most state-of-the-art equipment, which is crucial in preparing them for a career in the field of nursing.

Quinsigamond Community College Recognized as Best Community College in Massachusetts

WORCESTER, MA— August 2, 2022—  Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) was ranked best community college in Massachusetts in 2022 by Intelligent.com, an online source for program rankings and higher education planning. The research identifies programs in the nation based on flexibility, faculty, course strength, cost, and reputation. QCC was also ranked eighth in 2022, in the category of best online universities and colleges in Massachusetts.

QCC to Host Saturday Registration Event and Free COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

WORCESTER, MA— July 20, 2022—  Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) is hosting a “Super Saturday” registration event on Saturday, July 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Harrington Learning Center. The event will be held on QCC’s main campus at 670 West Boylston Street, Worcester.
