QCC student finds community and more with Veteran Affairs Office

WORCESTER, MA— January 30, 2024 — Taking the plunge into higher education after 50 years out of school may not be for the faint of heart, but for Quinsigamond Community College student and veteran Tom Vincent, the support of QCC’s Veteran Affairs department has made all the difference in his confidence and academic success.

QCC Workforce Development to Offer Free Medical Courses for English Language Learners

WORCESTER, MA— January 22, 2024 — Quinsigamond Community College’s Center for Workforce Development and Continuing Education is offering two free courses for English language learners. The Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide course and the Clinical Medical Assistant course will cover the necessary English terminology, as well as the medical content for participants to prepare for certification.

Both courses include books, scrubs, supplies and certification testing upon completion. Resume writing and interviewing skills are also covered in both programs.

QCC Announces Fall 2023 Semester Dean and Merit Lists

WORCESTER, MA— January 10, 2024— Quinsigamond Community College has released its Fall 2023 Semester Dean and Merit Lists. A total of 510 students were named to the college’s Dean’s List and 1,009 students were named to the Merit List.

QCC’s Adult Community Learning Center Receives Increased Funding

WORCESTER, MA— December 18, 2023 — Quinsigamond Community College’s Adult Community Learning Center (ACLC) has received over $1.8 million per year for five years in its latest funding from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, up from their 2022 funding which was approximately $1.2 million. The increase has enabled the hiring of more instructors and support staff to accommodate ACLC’s high-demand programs.

Honoring Latine Youth at the 38th Annual HACE Awards

WORCESTER, MA— November 21, 2023 — Quinsigamond Community College has once again partnered with the local community to celebrate Latine youth in Central Massachusetts for the annual Hispanics Achieving and Celebrating Excellence (HACE) event. During this year’s 38th award ceremony, 32 Worcester and Southbridge Latine high school students were awarded scholarships.

The HACE awards recognize students who have excelled in arts, academics, athletics and leadership. Since the program’s inception, HACE has awarded more than $210,000 to over 800 students.

QCC Presents First Community Impact Award

WORCESTER, MA— November 13, 2023 —Quinsigamond Community College recently presented its first Community Impact Award to Kwame Appiah and his family members for their work and founding of the Kumasi FC Soccer Club. The Kumasi FC Soccer Club has been serving the Greater Worcester community since 2010 and offers a variety of soccer workshops to children ranging from toddlers (age 2) to 15-year-olds.

QCC Police Department Awarded State Recognized Accreditation

WORCESTER, MA— October 24, 2023 — In early October, the Quinsigamond Community College Campus Police Department was once again awarded state accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC).

“This is an honor not only for our department, but also for the college,” said QCC Chief of Police Kevin Ritacco. “Accreditation assures the College community that the Police Department is current in training, policy and procedures to help keep them safe.”

QCC Dental Hygiene Clinic Brightens Smiles Across the Region

WORCESTER, MA— October 31, 2023 — Quinsigamond Community College’s Dental Hygiene Clinic is continuing to offer free preventative dental services to anyone aged 55 or older, as well as active military members and veterans. The Clinic, located at QCC’s West Boylston Street campus, offers dental assessments, teeth cleaning, x-rays, and fluoride treatments.

WORCESTER, MA— October 17, 2023 — In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, Quinsigamond Community College will host award-winning journalist Mariana Atencio on Thursday, October 19 at 9:00 a.m. at the Athletic Center on the main campus at 670 West Boylston Street, Worcester.

Atencio, a former anchor and reporter for Univision and NBC News, gave a viral TEDx talk, “What makes YOU special?” in 2017 and wrote an Amazon best seller “Perfectly You: Embracing the Power of Being Real.”
