WORCESTER, MA— September 11, 2023 — Quinsigamond Community College has partnered with Worcester Regional Food Hub to provide fresh food to students, faculty, and staff. Each week there will be rotating local food vendors who will sell food on QCC’s West Boylston Street campus. A majority of the vendors servicing QCC are run by QCC alumni.

“We are thrilled to be able to partner with the Worcester Regional Food Hub and deliver culturally conscious fresh food to our college community. This partnership is a collaboration between two organizations that are dedicated to the communities they serve,” said QCC President Luis G. Pedraja, Ph.D. “Close to 80% of vendors are QCC alumni entrepreneurs, who are paying it forward by coming back to QCC to offer their services to our students. This partnership is not only inspiring for our students who can witness the fruition of a college education, but also serves as a model for other academic institutions.”

The Worcester Regional Food Hub supports emerging food businesses and aims to promote sustainable agriculture and healthy eating.

“This is a great opportunity for QCC students and staff to get a lot of fresh, quality food from people who really care,” said Worcester Regional Food Hub’s Food Entrepreneurship Manager Rob Morris. “We also offer vegetarian and vegan options and try to get locally sourced options as much as we can. It’s also a benefit to growing businesses and farms, especially now that many of the markets have ended for the season.”

Initial offerings the week of September 11 include Worcester-based businesses Simply Delight, Bogocado and Joey D’S Wingz ‘n Thingz. The Worcester Regional Food Hub will also be providing a salad bar. Currently, food vendors will be open Monday - Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for the college community.

Additionally, Creedon and Co., Inc., a local caterer owned by a QCC alum, is providing fresh food and drinks in self-service vending machines, which are available any time the college is open.
