Media Invite – Youth Standing Against Racism

WHAT:    A webinar that brings together key stakeholders of the Massachusetts public higher education system to discuss the importance of standing against racism. Panelists will reinforce the concept of a Statewide Campus Community Building Day, in order to engage students, administrators, faculty and staff to foster a statewide culture of tolerance, equity, equality, and anti-racism, while calling on each of us to stand up against racial injustice. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the panelists through the designated Q&A sessions.

QCC to Increase Access to Higher Education through New Technology

WORCESTER, MA— April 3, 2022—Quinsigamond Community College has received $975,000 in federal funding to purchase a Hyflex (hybrid flexible) Technology System. This state-of-the-art technology will combine both online and classroom-based components to increase access to higher education.

“This technology will be a game-changer for so many students who otherwise would be unable to attend in-person classes,” said QCC President Luis G. Pedraja, Ph.D.

Quinsigamond Community College student honored as Newman Civic Fellow

WORCESTER, MA— March 10, 2022—Quinsigamond Community College Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) student Thiago Zakaitis was named one of 173 student civic leaders nationwide who will make up the 2022-2023 group of Newman Civic Fellows. Mr. Zakaitis will join students from 38 states, Washington, D.C., and Mexico to form this elite student group.

Quinsigamond Community College Offers Full-Time Police Academy

WORCESTER, MA—January 20, 2022 — Quinsigamond Community College’s Police Academy is addressing a workforce demand with its new police academy. This is the only Massachusetts community college running its own full-time police academy held on nights and weekends.

QCC Bids a Fond Farewell to Dynamic Group of Women

WORCESTER, MA— January 12, 2022— As Quinsigamond Community College rang in 2022, it did so without its Board of Trustees Chair Susan Coghlin Mailman, who resigned at the end of 2021 after six years in the role, due to her recent election to the Worcester School Committee. Ms. Mailman’s commitment to QCC is far-reaching. In addition to her time as Board Chair, she was a QCC Foundation Director for over nine years, and chaired the RISE (Regional Investment in Service and Education) Campaign, the College’s most recent capital campaign.

The 36th Annual HACE Awards Inspire the Next Generation of Leaders

WORCESTER, MA — November 16, 2021 — For the past 36 years, Quinsigamond Community College has partnered with leaders in the Latinx community to honor the area’s Latinx youth. This year, during a virtual ceremony, the annual Hispanics Achieving and Celebrating Excellence (HACE) event awarded 33 Worcester and Southbridge high school Latinx students with scholarships that ranged from $350 - $450 to assist them on their path to a successful future.

McGovern Applauds Partnership between QCC and CMAA

WORCESTER, MA—November 10, 2021 — Today, a new partnership was announced between Quinsigamond Community College and the Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging (CMAA) to offer free preventative dental care to seniors 55 and older in the Central Massachusetts region.
