QCC Workforce Development to Offer Free Medical Courses for English Language Learners

WORCESTER, MA— January 22, 2024 — Quinsigamond Community College’s Center for Workforce Development and Continuing Education is offering two free courses for English language learners. The Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide course and the Clinical Medical Assistant course will cover the necessary English terminology, as well as the medical content for participants to prepare for certification.

Both courses include books, scrubs, supplies and certification testing upon completion. Resume writing and interviewing skills are also covered in both programs.

The Clinical Medical Assistant option covers basics such as scheduling systems, medical records and routine care, as well as more in-depth topics like phlebotomy theory, pharmacology and medical ethics. The course runs from February 20, 2024 - June 14, 2024.

The Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aide option covers basic patient care and procedures as well as specifics related to individual care for patients who choose to live in their own homes or in residential facilities. The course runs from January 30, 2024 - April 13, 2024.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment of home health aides is projected to grow 22 percent from 2022 to 2032. BLS projected medical assistant employment to grow 14 percent during the same period. Both growth rates are faster than the average for all occupations, which is three percent.
