Math Placement Assessment

Welcome to the Math Course Placement page. As of March 21, 2022, the Math Skill Check was retired and we are currently using a variety of measures to ensure that students are placed in a math course that leads to the best success in the math curriculum and eventual graduation.

If you were previously placed using the Math Skill Check, this placement will remain valid until October 1, 2022.

The first step in the process is to determine your program of study at QCC.  While some business, science, engineering, healthcare, and technology programs contain courses that require a placement test, many other majors contain courses that have no such placement test requirement.

You may not need to take the placement test if you can provide a high school transcript or SAT score. For example, we may be able to place you in a math course using other measures including:

  • SAT scores 530 or higher
  • ACT scores 21 or higher
  • HiSET scores 15 or higher
  • GED scores 165 or higher
  • Graduating HS GPA of 2.7 or higher
