Math Tutoring

The Math Center is a welcoming and supportive learning space in 206 HLC, second floor of the Harrington Learning Center, and online (link below). We provide free, drop-in, one-on-one and small group tutoring for currently enrolled QCC students. Resources for students include computers, math software, copies of current Math Department textbooks, math manipulatives and tools, and a lending library. QCC math tutors who work with students online have copies of the course e-books (electronic version of the printed textbooks).

Friday, May 2, will be the last day that the Math Center relocates in-person afternoon tutoring to the Harrington Computing Center, room 379 Administration Building.

Beginning on Saturday, May 3 and next week, all regularly scheduled in-person hours will resume on the second floor of the HLC.

Regularly scheduled online math tutoring and additional online tutoring through ThinkingStorm is also available, see information and links below.

  • Tutors can assist students in all of QCC's math courses

The goal of tutoring is to help strengthen math and study skills by reinforcing classroom learning whether the classroom is in-person or fully online. Students can utilize both on-campus and online math tutoring, as well as the online resource ThinkingStorm, regardless of the mode of the course that they are taking.

In the Math Center we believe that part of being a successful math student is to practice what you are learning by doing math through working on assignments, as well as utilizing course resources, such as reading the textbook/e-book to review examples and reinforce math vocabulary, watching videos, and reviewing class notes and handouts.

QCC math tutors can assist with problems and examples from course textbooks and e-books, with similar questions from MyLab Math, ALEKS, and WebAssign homework assignments, and with other assignments that include printed or digital solutions. Tutors can also help navigate the course website, e-book, videos, Blackboard, and can help students find resources for using calculators and various technology.

Math Center AI Policy
