International Student Acceptance and Qualification Process
International students have a two-step process to be able to study in the United States. The first step is to apply and be accepted into the college. The second step is to submit additional documents to qualify you for your Form I-20.
Please read the following important information carefully.
Please submit all documents as individual PDFs to the international@qcc.mass.edu. Files should not be password protected.
Step 1: Gaining acceptance to QCC
- Submit the International Student Application. The application is free.
- Submit a PDF scan or copy of your final high school transcript, diploma, or exam certificate. If documents are not in English, an official translation must be attached.
Step 2: Qualifying for your Form I-20
Submit all qualifying documents by the deadline:
Fall Semester (September -December)
- The deadline for students applying for a new Form I-20 is July 1.
- The deadline for students transferring from another U.S.
institution is August 10.
Spring Semester (January - May)
- The deadline for students applying for a new Form I-20 is November 1.
- The deadline for students transferring from another U.S.
institution is December 10.
The International Student Required Documentation Packet has important information and forms you need to qualify for your Form I-20. Please read this information carefully. These are your instructions to qualify for your Form I-20
Sign and submit the International Student Acknowledgement form. Signing this form represents your understanding of the rules and responsibilities of being an F-1 student (page 4 of the Documentation Packet).
Quinsigamond Community College requires all applications whose primary language is not English to demonstrate college-level English proficiency as part of the qualification process. Students can demonstrate English proficiency by submitting scores from one of three approved test providers: TOEFL, IELTS, & Duolingo English Test. The test results must be sent directly to Quinsigamond Community College. All English Proficiency test scores must be within two years of the application deadline. You must achieve the following scores:
- For the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT): 173 on the computer-based test or, 61 on the internet-based test, or 500 on the paper-based test.
- For the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test, students must obtain a score of 5.0.
- For the Duolingo English Test, students must obtain a score of 100.
- US College Level English class: Students who have completed one semester of a college-level English course at an American College or university, and received a grade of C or higher, can have an official transcript sent to Quinsigamond Community College.
Submit a signed Certificate of Financial Sponsor from your sponsor (no more than two sponsors allowed). This states that your sponsor will be responsible for your educational and living expenses for your duration of study at QCC (page 5 of the Documentation Packet).
Submit an official bank statement from your sponsor indicating sufficient resources covering educational and living expenses for one year. The bank statement must be a checking or savings account, with a minimum balance of $35,980(USD). The bank statement must be no older than 6 months prior to the application deadline detailed above.
Submit a copy or PDF scan of your valid passport.
