Associate in Arts

Theater at QCC serves the Liberal Arts by providing a rigorous aesthetic, intellectual, and practical opportunity to explore the frontiers of learning and the formation of collaborative communities. The primary mode of study is the practice of theater, involving theoretical, historical, aesthetic and technical elements. The QCC Liberal Arts - Theater Option program is comprehensive in nature, and is designed to maximize opportunities for training that would transfer to four-year institutions for students interested in theater arts, or provide students with enough knowledge to enter the visual or performing arts workforce.

Associate in Arts

The QCC Liberal Arts - Media Communications Option provides foundational courses in media communications required by four-year colleges and universities, enabling students to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program as juniors in media communications/journalism and/or a related field. It will introduce students to the liberal arts disciplines, defined as fine arts, humanities, mathematics, natural sciences, and social and behavioral sciences.

This program will provide you with a well rounded educational experience while exploring the various areas of psychological science, including; human and personality development, mental health, research methods, cognition, and social psychology

The QCC Liberal Arts - Music Option will prepare students to transfer to a four-year college or university, or entry-level work requiring communication and critical thinking skills and provide a foundational education comprised of the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics, with a concentration in music knowledge, skill, and a solid base of musical proficiency.

Earn an associate's degree in the Liberal Arts-Sociology Option. Learn about the field of sociology. Explore interesting subjects that affect our daily lives and influence current events, such as culture, race and ethnic relations, gender and sexuality, globalization, inequality, social justice and social change. English majors learn analytical and creative skills that never become obsolete. By engaging in literature that reflects the diversity of our world, students become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and creative problems solvers. A very flexible degree, the English major provides student the fundamentals to work in education, law, advertising, media, business, publishing, and many more.

The Liberal Arts program offers a guided education in the humanities and fine arts, social sciences, natural sciences, and math, and also the opportunity to explore possible subjects to major in. It does all this, while preparing you to transfer to a bachelor's degree program.

How did the world come to be what it is today?  History–the study of the past–helps us to answer this question. Learn about ancient civilizations, political and social revolutions, cultural and intellectual movements, scientific and technological advances, and even the history of Worcester. Along the way, we prepare you for a bachelor's degree program in history, or employment in which you can deploy the analytical and writing skills developed in our program.

The General Studies - Deaf Studies Option prepares students to have the necessary communication skills and cultural knowledge to work with deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Through practicum participation and other course related research, students explore career opportunities in the deaf community.
