How to Apply for Financial Aid

Many QCC students qualify for financial aid. The first step is to apply. Please follow the steps below to get started.

Applying for financial aid is not difficult and it's free! Just follow these simple steps and you're on your way. If you have any questions about the process or need help applying, please contact us. We will be happy to help you.

  1. Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)* electronically.  It is necessary for you and your parent or spouse (if required to provide their information) to sign your FAFSA using an FSA ID.  Be sure to designate Quinsigamond Community College (Federal School Code 002175) in the College release section. Make sure you select the application for the correct academic year:
    • The 2023-2024 form is used for the Fall 2023, Intersession/Spring 2024, and Summer 2024 semester(s).
The 2024-2025 form is used for the Fall 2024, Intersession/Spring 2025, and Summer 2025 semester(s).

  2. Allow 3-5 business days for your FAFSA to be processed. You will receive a FAFSA Submission Summary, which you should review for accuracy.
  3. If additional documentation is required, you will receive a letter from the Financial Aid Office. It is important to respond to these requests as quickly as possible.

*You must have a Social Security Number to file the FAFSA.  If you are applying for state financial aid under the Tuition Equity "High School Completer" status, you will need to:

The MASFA is an alternative form to the FAFSA for students who do not meet the citizenship requirements to apply for federal financial aid but are eligible for state financial aid under the Tuition Equity law. (This is rare!  Most QCC students will apply for financial aid through the FAFSA process above.)

Please note that as of April 11, 2024, the Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) is still building the process by which Colleges will be able to award state financial aid to High School Completers. QCC does not currently have access to MASFA forms completed by students.  If requested, please work with OSFA directly to submit any required paperwork to complete your financial aid file. Once a process is active for QCC, we'll communicate with students who have applied on any next steps or their eligibility.

Please Note: You must first complete the FAFSA or MASFA. The Financial Aid Office then reviews your application to determine if additional documents are necessary. If more information is required, we must wait until you respond to this request before we can continue working on your file. Once your file is complete, it can take 2-8 weeks (depending on the time of year) before you will receive an Award Offer Letter. Although you can submit your FAFSA as early as October preceding the next fall semester, the Financial Aid Office will begin reviewing applications at the end of March. The busiest time of year in the Financial Aid Office is April through August preceding the fall semester. It is not unusual for the entire process to take 12-16 weeks. You must plan ahead to receive financial aid by the time your bill is due.
