QCC Alum Named Outstanding Woman in Business by Worcester Business Journal

Hard work and a community focus have been paying off for QCC Alum Jennifer Hernandez, who was recently named one of Worcester Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business and Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Worcester Class of 2024.

Hernandez runs GEM Marketing Solutions in Worcester and focuses on helping local businesses become the best they can be. She studied human services during her time at the college, which contributed to her community-minded business model that she developed after she noticed many small businesses closing. Not one to sit by idly, Hernandez wanted to take action to help businesses become more sustainable.

"Although I did not go to school for marketing I have always had a large heart and wanted to be of service to my community. We are a marketing agency where we put people over profits. We are about community and impact and really care about the businesses we serve. Giving back is a pillar of GEM," Hernandez said.

While Hernandez has a large array of advice for someone starting a business, such as regularly promoting with business cards, an up-to-date website and frequent social media posts, her core advice is simple.

"People do business with people, so the more you can show up as yourself, the quicker you will make room in the market for yourself."

Hernandez mentioned that she is always advocating for people to give QCC a try.

"I loved my time at QCC. My oldest daughter and younger sister are currently students and they love it. QCC is amazing at meeting you wherever you are at in your educational journey!," she said.
