A message from Director of Health and Wellness Heather Lukas:

I wanted to reach out to reintroduce myself to the college community and explain my role and my team's role. As the Director of Health and Wellness, my team and I collaborate to build health policies, offer programs, and coordinate events to help us all stay safe and healthy.

The Health and Wellness team includes two wonderful nurses: Valerie Maloney and Mackensey Snyder. Together, we work with the entire college including students, staff, faculty and the Early Childhood Education Lab School (Children’s School).

We are a resource for students’ health and wellness needs. We assist them in not only understanding vaccine requirements, but also helping them to upload their vaccine records to a secure database.

We offer an illness intake form (formally known as the health and safety form) that any student, staff or faculty member may complete when they are sick. They will receive a response from a team member who will provide guidance and assistance if needed in communicating with faculty and/or supervisors when they are ill. Our team manages the college’s Premium Calm app membership, available to all part-time and full-time employees and soon it will also be available to students to support overall emotional wellness. We also collaborate with other departments to provide health-focused programs, such as the recent walking challenge that garnered a great college response!

Additionally, our department schedules vaccine clinics for our college community and often for the community at large. Stay tuned for details on the upcoming flu (and other vaccines) clinic on the main campus scheduled for September 13 and 14, 2023, and on the Federal Street campus on September 18 and September 21, 2023. Other upcoming fall events include a virtual healthy interactive cooking webinar and a blood drive on the main campus.

We hope you will take advantage of the resources and services we provide and know that our department is here for all your health and wellness needs.
