Learn more about Market Basket battle at showing of “Food Fight” on October 20

September 2016

QCC will host a showing of “Food Fight, Inside the Battle for Market Basket” on October 20.

Throughout the summer of 2014, a corporate food fight played out in dozens of communities impacting tens of thousands of workers and the economies of three states. When the faction of the Market Basket board headed by Arthur S. Demoulas fired his cousin and arch-rival Arthur T. Demoulas as long-time CEO of the successful supermarket chain, it set off a firestorm that sparked one of most unique corporate dramas in American history. It’s what the New York Times called “the last stand for the middle class.”

“This film beautifully captures the drama of a remarkable story that broke all the rules. A dramatic and entertaining view of a case that will be taught in business schools for years,” said Daniel Korschun, co-author of “We Are Market Basket” and an associate professor of marketing at Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business.

The film will be shown Thursday, October 20, at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the Hebert Auditorium, 670 West Boylston St, Worcester. There will be a Q&A session at 12:45 p.m. after the first showing. Admission is free with a QCC student ID, $5 without a student ID.

Directed by New England filmmaker Jay Childs, the film was an official selection of the Newburyport Documentary Film Festival 2016, the New Hampshire Film Festival 2016 and the Boston International Film Festival.
