WORCESTER—Honors students from Quinsigamond Community College will be presenting research papers and visual representations of recent American Pop Culture on April 27 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Lobby of the Hebert Auditorium on campus.

The Showcase caps a semester of honors work for students in Interdisciplinary Studies 200: Honors Colloquium. Students in the team-taught seminar examine timely issues in American Culture from many disciplines using a variety of perspectives. The class, taught by QCC faculty members Susan McPherson and Melissa Tamas, is designed to emphasize inquiry, discovery and critical thinking by students.

Student presentations will examine recent American Pop Culture and includes topics as diverse as America’s obsession with fast food, steroids in sports, the use of iPods in higher education, Kabbalah, elective plastic surgery for teenagers and others.

The Showcase is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
