QCC Receives $79,000 Fred Harris Daniels Foundation Grant

Worcester—Quinsigamond Community College’s Interim President Sheila Sykes announced recently that the Fred Harris Daniels Foundation has awarded the College $78,750 to implement the Technology Academy for Girls (TAG).  The grant is for $35,000 for year one. The remaining 75% or $26,250 is for year two and 50% of $17,500 is for year three.

The Technology Academy will offer an active cooperative learning environment where girls will master science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts and projects and build self-esteem and confidence. The hands-on component of this project will allow students to build and lean to use a working PC using the Windows and/or Linux operating systems. At the end of this course, students will take home and keep the PC they built.
