The TRIO Student Support Services STEM–Health Sciences Program supports health sciences students in graduating from QCC and continuing on to a college or university of their choice. Services include academic counseling, career planning, cultural activities, tutoring, and financial aid and scholarship planning. TRIO Student Support Services is a federally funded program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education.

Requirements

To qualify, a student must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident, be highly motivated to graduate, be a Healthcare focused student, and meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Be a first-generation college student (neither parent has a bachelor’s degree)
  • Meet federal low-income eligibility
  • Have a documented disability

How TRIO helps

  • Educational Counseling – Address concerns that may keep you from reaching your educational goals.
  • Financial Aid Information – Learn about financial aid options and receive assistance applying. We help develop and monitor your financial aid plan.
  • Career Planning – Select an appropriate program of study and explore career goals.
  • Tutoring – Improve academic performance through individualized and group tutoring.
  • Educational Access – Coordinate resources and accommodations related to documented disabilities.

Please note: Applications are accepted throughout the year; however, acceptance into the program is each fall semester only. All applicants will be placed on a waiting list and notified when a slot becomes available.

TRIO is my favorite thing in the school. I would stop by every day. Sometimes I would struggle to find after-school care for my children and TRIO would help me find child care. QCC is a good school for parents because there's flexibility, support and great professors.
