WORCESTER, MA – May 12, 2026 – Quinsigamond Community College was recently awarded $38,208 by the Healey-Driscoll Administration for its Bridges to College program, which helps low-income and entry-level adults transition to higher education.

Bridges to College is a free summer program that prepares participants for math and English courses, while simultaneously exposing them to the college environment.

“The Bridges to College summer program gives students a free opportunity to refresh their English and math skills before the Fall semester begins,” said Director of Mentoring & Special Programs Kalan Lewis. “Participants gain confidence in college-level coursework, learn about campus resources and connect with faculty and staff who are committed to their success.”

Since the program began in 2019, it has received funding from the Department of Higher Education and other key partners, including Hanover Insurance Foundation and Greater Worcester Community Foundation.

Program data from 2019-2013 showed that of the students who completed the Bridges to College program, 70% received a C or higher in ENG 101 and 102, and almost 70% received a C or higher in a college-level math course.
