Tuition & Educational Service Fee (ESF)

The Tuition and Educational Service Fee cost for Massachusetts residents is $223 per credit ($24 tuition / $199 educational service fee). For all other students the cost is $429 per credit ($230 tuition / $199 educational service fee). 

There are additional fees each semester based on enrollment (see below).

Indirect Costs

Includes housing, food, books, supplies, transportation and personal expenses. QCC uses a standard allowance for indirect costs, which can vary greatly for each student depending on a variety of factors. The following figures are approximations per semester, and you may find your indirect costs differ from these estimates, which is common.

Massachusetts Universal Health Insurance Law requires that all students enrolled for 9 or more credits participate in a comprehensive health insurance plan. The Health Insurance Fee for FALL 2024 is $3573.00. The Fall annual enrollment covers the period from September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2025. If you can certify alternative comparable coverage you can waive this fee by completing the waiver form online available after July 1. Please expect 2-3 business days for the fee to be removed. Free care is not considered comparable coverage.

Health Insurance - Massachusetts Universal Health Insurance Law requires that all students enrolled for 9 or more credits participate in a comprehensive health insurance plan. The premium fee for SPRING 2025 is $2387 and enrollment covers the period from January 1st through August 31, 2025. If you can certify alternative comparable coverage, you can waive this fee by completing the online waiver available now. Free care is not considered comparable coverage. If you waived the fee in the FALL the SPRING fee will come off after the first of the year - please do not complete the waiver again.  Completed SPRING 2025 waivers will be uploaded beginning January 3rd.

Program Fees

Currently all programs have per semester Program Fees associated with the Program Major to help support the needs of the program.

Credit for Prior Learning: Challenge Exams, Portfolio Assessments, and Credentialing are all $75 per credit. Credit cost for QCC sponsored learning (direct study and tutorial study) is the same cost as credit courses. Refund Limitations

  1. Official withdrawal must be made in the Registrar's Office, room 152A in the Administration Building.
  2. To be considered for a refund or adjustment, any waivers must be submitted to the Business Office prior to
    • Fall/Spring: End of the Semester
    • Winter: start of the semester 
    • Summer: semester deadline
  3. Students will be refunded only that portion of the tuition and fees paid by them; financial aid and other contracted agency payments will be refunded directly to the paying party.
  4. Mandatory health insurance premiums are not refundable to any student after the first 21 class days of the term (applies to Spring, Summer, and Fall Classes).

Payment

An Enrollment Notification is sent by email 2-3 days after registration to your student email account and details payment options. The Course & Fee Statement on The Q is your bill. We do not mail paper bills. Please contact the Business Office with any billing or payment questions you may have by email at businessoffice@qcc.mass.edu or by phone at 508.854.4560.

Students who have not paid or made arrangements to pay their tuition and fees by the bill due date risk being dropped from their classes for non-payment. Students will be notified by email to their student email account if they have been dropped from their classes for non-payment. It is the student's responsibility to notify the Registrar's Office if the student will not attend any or all of their classes.

View or Pay Bill

  1. Log into The Q 
  2. On the Welcome page, to the right under Quick Links, select View/Pay My Bill
  3. Select My Account Balances to the right under My Payment Account
  4. Select Make A Payment.

The first time you use this system you will be asked to create an account. Once that account is created and you select Make A Payment you will be routed to our third party payment portal managed by Nelnet. Here you can make one time payments or when available set up a payment plan for an upcoming semester. 

Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)

The health insurance waiver will be available on or about July 1, 2024 and will be open until approximately to October 30, 2024.The health insurance waiver will be available from approximately November 1, 2024 to on or about March 1, 2025.  

You must be enrolled before completing the waiver. 

If you completed the waiver in the Fall you do not need to waive again in the Spring - the fee will update off of your bill. Please allow 2-3 business days for the fee to be waived. 

Academic year 2024-2025 is the 35th year of implementation of the Massachusetts Mandatory Health Insurance Law. Under this law, each Massachusetts Community College must require all students taking nine or more credit hours in the Day or DCE Divisions to participate in the Student Health Insurance Plan unless proof of comparable coverage is received by the deadline. Free care is not considered comparable coverage. Visit our Frequently Asked Questions for additional information.

Students of the Massachusetts Community Colleges will be enrolled for policy year 2024-25 in a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan. A description of the plan can be downloaded by selecting “My Benefits & Plan Information” on the left-hand side under the header “My Student Health Insurance Plan". If you have comparable coverage you may wish to waive participation in the Student Health Insurance Plan. Students who wish to waive coverage must complete the on-line waiver process below after they are enrolled:

  1. Go to Health Insurance Waiver Page.
  2. New users must create an account - returning users use your previously created user name and password.
  3. Fill in all the required information. If any information is missing, your waiver will NOT be accepted.
  4. Submit the Waiver form.

International Students - a school may not waive participation for “students with coverage from insurance carriers outside the U.S. and coverage by foreign National Health Service Programs, unless student is studying in a foreign country and the student’s insurance provides coverage in that location.” 956 CMR 8.05 (2) (c) (2).

Students will be notified by email when enrolled in the health insurance coverage and can then print a verification letter. An ID card will be mailed to the student by Blue Cross Blue Shield 7-10 business days after enrollment. 

Voluntary Dental Insurance – a voluntary dental insurance program is also available. To access additional information and/or to enroll in the dental plan log onto Gallagher and select Student Products and then select Voluntary Dental Insurance.
