The Advisory Committee to Access and Opportunity supports the Office of Access, Opportunity, and Institutional Compliance in advancing the College’s commitment to fairness, access, and respectful practices as reflected in the College’s mission statement and strategic plan. This includes fostering a campus climate where students, faculty, and staff feel welcomed, valued, and respected, and where fair and thoughtful practices guide both academic and administrative decision-making.

Mission

The Advisory Committee to Access and Opportunity serves in an advisory role to the Office of Access, Opportunity, and Institutional Compliance in supporting the College’s commitment to fair access, respectful engagement, and responsible institutional practices, consistent with its mission, vision, and values. To that end, this committee may do the following:

  • Assess campus culture and climate to ensure that students, faculty, and staff feel respected and supported across the full range of identities and experiences represented within the College community, including those recognized under federal civil rights protections.
  • Proactively address personal, professional, and institutional challenges that may affect fair access, opportunity, and a respectful working and learning environment.
  • Identify, examine, and advise on concerns related to campus climate, fairness in practice, and institutional accountability, in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Amplify and collaborate with the work of other QCC groups that promote respectful engagement, student and employee success, and a positive campus environment.
  • Develop recommendations for initiatives that strengthen College policies, procedures, and practices in order to identify and remove barriers to participation, learning, and professional success.
