WORCESTER, MA – September 18, 2026 – Quinsigamond Community College showed off its school spirit yesterday during the Worcester Red Sox’s Community College Night. Students, faculty, staff and alumni from community colleges throughout the state showed up to cheer on the WooSox as they faced the Durham Bulls.
Guests of Community College Night greeted the crowd with a pre-game parade and QCC President Dr. Luis Pedraja threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
“Community colleges across the Commonwealth work hard to train and support the individuals who end up as the backbone of our cities and towns,” Pedraja said. “We also know how to celebrate, and this WooSox game was the perfect opportunity to do just that.”
The event was organized by the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges (MACC) as a way to celebrate the impact that institutions offering associate degrees, certificates and noncredit training have on their communities. According to MACC, community colleges represent over 40% of students in the Massachusetts public higher education system as of fiscal year 2024.
