Assistant Director of Student Life & Programming Casey Denis just completed her first year working at QCC - and what a year it's been! Casey wasted no time figuring out what activities students want and creating community built on shared experiences. Some events offer a quick opportunity to brighten a student's day, like flower arranging, and some are downright epic, like when she took 35 students on a trip to see the smash hit "Wicked" on Broadway in New York City.
In addition to planning, prepping, and running events [Check out the action-packed Welcome Week schedule!], Casey makes sure students are connected with support services when needed. As a QCC alum herself, Casey remembers exactly what it was like to be working and raising children while going to class.
"So many of our students carry a wide range of responsibilities and commitments while continuing to work toward their goals, which inspires me in the work that I do, having been in their shoes when I was a student here,” Casey said.
Just like QCC, Casey's commitment to community extends beyond campus and she doesn’t miss a moment to uplift the nonprofits, community groups, and businesses that make the Worcester area so vibrant.
Do you have any pets?
At my house we have two dogs, three cats, four snakes, and a large fish tank.
What do you do on the weekends?
I love being at home, but also hitting up local events, like the Worcester Public Library Block Party.
What's your favorite restaurant in Worcester?
Livia's Dish. I love some brunch!
What is something else people might not know about you?
My husband, Louis, and I knew each other from high school, but didn't start dating until we were both students at QCC. He's actually back in school here now for biotechnology.
