WORCESTER, MA – May 6, 2026 – Quinsigamond Community College recently announced that Florence LeClair has been appointed by the governor as the newest alumni trustee on the Board of Trustees, after being voted in by the Alumni Association. LeClair, a lifelong Worcester resident, credited QCC for laying out the foundation of her nursing career, which included multiple positions at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
“Flo LeClair has the most marvelous history and dedication to the community,” said President of the Board of Trustees Dr. Linda Maykel. “We are honored to have her.”
LeClair’s career spanned over 30 years in oncology and hospice nursing, where she became a pioneer in palliative care. She launched the hospice program at UMass Memorial Medical Center in 1995 and later served as a nurse case manager in the Emergency Department until her retirement.
“QCC is thrilled to have Flo LeClair return to the college as a trustee,” said QCC President Dr. Luis Pedraja. “Her lifelong commitment to community service, leadership and patient care exemplifies the spirit of Quinsigamond alumni.”
LeClair began her career as a licensed practical nurse after graduating from Fanning Trade School in 1972. Seeking to deepen her knowledge, she earned her associate degree in nursing from Quinsigamond Community College in 1978, followed by a bachelor’s degree from Assumption College in 1988.
“I am honored to have been selected as a trustee for QCC,” LeClair said. “I believe I received wonderful training as an LPN, but QCC’s program taught me the theory and science behind my clinical practice. I hope in my role as a trustee, I can further educate and promote QCC’s programs to the community.”
Since retiring, LeClair continues to serve the community through volunteer work with Elder Services of Worcester, Notre Dame Assisted Living and her parish. She also maintains a connection to QCC by overseeing a nursing scholarship established in memory of her sister, Carmen Tobin, a QCC alum.
