Two QCC employees were given official citations this summer as part of the state’s New Black Leaders recognition program. Executive Director of Access, Opportunity & Institutional Compliance John Holloway and Adjunct Faculty Member Shaun Murphy received the honors at the American Antiquarian Society in Worcester.

“As a professional new to the area, it was outstanding to have the city welcome me. I’ve lived in many different cities and never expected anything like this. It was also an incredible opportunity to get in touch with other folks who are inspired to make a difference,” said Holloway.

“For me, this isn’t just about an individual honor—it’s about representation, responsibility, and resilience,” said Murphy. “I stand on the shoulders of those who came before me, who pushed doors open so that people like me could walk through them. This recognition reminds me that leadership isn’t a title, it’s a daily commitment to serve, to lift others, and to create opportunities where they didn’t exist before.
