WORCESTER, MA – June 6, 2025 – Quinsigamond Community College and Worcester Bravehearts Baseball have teamed up to support QCC baseball player Jake Paskell, a 19-year-old student who is battling cancer for the second time. Proceeds from ticket sales for the Friday, June 6 game purchased through the ticket link at QCC.edu/TeamJake will go directly to Paskell and his family. Paskell will also be in attendance to throw out the first pitch of the game.
Men’s Head Baseball Coach Corey Coleman recalled the excitement of the coaching staff when Paskell joined QCC’s team, describing him as “an impact player” who works extremely hard.
When he learned of Paskell’s first bout with cancer that started in 2021, Coleman recalled an instant connection because he had lost his sister to cancer decades earlier.
“To learn what Jake had been through just a year ago, to become one of the best hitters in Massachusetts…to me was unbelievable,” Coleman shared.
Earlier this year, QCC’s baseball team dedicated their season to Paskell, when he had to refrain from playing to begin treatment for B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Coleman said that he felt “heartbroken” to hear that Paskell was fighting cancer for a second time but remained optimistic.
“We all know Jake is a fighter. All we talked about was when he steps on the field at QCC again, it’s going to be even bigger and better,” said Coleman.
According to Coleman, Paskell’s treatment is going well and he is on pace to play again in the fall season.
“We all knew that would happen because of the kind of kid Jake is, the kind of family that Jake has and all the support from the community,” Coleman said.
The Bravehearts will play the New Britain Bees at the June 6 game which starts at 6:30 p.m. in Worcester. Tickets include a box seat at the Bravehearts game and free parking. For more information visit QCC.edu/TeamJake.
