The Children’s School: Early Childhood Education Lab School art showcase transformed the HLC into a vibrant celebration of creativity last month for the 15th year in a row. The walls were adorned with colorful paintings, collages, and sculptures created by preschool school students, each piece a testament to the endless imagination of youth. The exhibition was highlighted by a delightful performance by the Charlotte Klein Dance Center and even some of the Children's School students.
"The Children's School art exhibit showcases how powerful process art can be! When we as adults let go and let the children take the lead without worrying about our notion of what art should be, the results are amazing," said Director of the Children's School Erin Roache. "This event is such a beautiful way to showcase what brings us all together as humans. The arts have a special power that connects us all and QCC is such a wonderful place for celebrating that."
Giselle Rivera Flores, director of communications for Senator Robyn Kennedy and QCC alum, attended the event and made remarks on behalf of the Senator.
"What's so special about the artwork here is that it's so honest. There is freedom in every brushstroke," Rivera Flores commented, "To the educators and staff at QCC and the Children's School, thank you for creating this space where you value self-expression and the children are not only learning but thriving. To the families tonight, your children are absolutely brilliant. And to the young artists, thank you for sharing your world with us."
The evening concluded with the QCC Music Ensemble providing an energetic soundtrack that perfectly complemented the festive atmosphere. Parents, educators, and community members alike left inspired by the remarkable talent on display and the powerful reminder of how art brings communities together across generations.
