If you missed it at All College Day, the Hebert Auditorium is once again open to the public after construction was completed last month. The beloved auditorium and its surrounding areas have undergone extensive renovations, bringing improved accessibility and enhanced facilities for QCC's performing arts programs and campus events.
One of the most significant improvements is the auditorium's compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These upgrades ensure that all members of our diverse community can participate in performances and events without barriers. New features include:
- Wheelchair-accessible seating in the front and rear of the auditorium
- Wheelchair accessibility in the projection booth
- An elevator for wheelchair access to the stage
The auditorium also received new acoustic ceiling panels and an updated HVAC system to make sure students, faculty, staff and guests are comfortable during events.
The renovation project didn't stop at the auditorium itself. The building now has:
- New dressing rooms equipped with private bathrooms
- Three dedicated practice spaces for individual and group rehearsals
- A gender-neutral bathroom in the Hebert lobby
- A fire sprinkler system through Hebert and Surprenant
But that's not all! Thanks in part to funding from the QCC Foundation, the student cafeteria in the Administration building has a sleek new look after a paint job brightened the space, a redesign of the space, and stylish, yet comfortable, seating was installed for students to utilize while they dine, study or simply relax.
Be sure to check out these upgrades and thank Facilities for continuing to make our campus beautiful!
