The Fab Lab is a campus resource available to all members of the QCC community, with a primary focus on student learning and educational outcomes. Our environment is education focused, and many projects are structured so that students can learn by participating in the fabrication process.

The Fab Lab supports classroom instruction, academic projects, and approved external collaborations. When outside projects are accepted, they are typically integrated into student learning opportunities whenever possible.

Services and Equipment

The Fab Lab currently supports the following fabrication and design services:

  • 3D printing
  • Laser engraving on natural materials
  • Vacuum forming
  • Injection molding
  • Vinyl printing and cutting
  • Poster production for classes and campus events (with advance planning)

We also provide guided tours for individuals, classes, and visiting groups interested in learning more about the lab and its capabilities.

Training and Safety

Safety is a core requirement for using Fab Lab equipment. All individuals must complete safety training and review proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procedures before operating machines in the lab.

Training sessions are coordinated through the Fab Lab. Individuals interested in using equipment can stop by Office 116Q to request information about training and machine access.

Workshops and Educational Programming

The Fab Lab supports workshops, class activities, and special events when they are coordinated as part of the planning process. We can also assist with after school programs and collaborative educational initiatives when staffing and liability considerations are addressed in advance.

For inquiries about workshops, tours, or educational partnerships, please contact the Fab Lab directly.

Student Opportunities

The Fab Lab regularly hires student assistants and welcomes volunteers who are interested in gaining experience with digital fabrication technologies. Students who are interested in working or volunteering in the lab are encouraged to reach out for more information.

Fab Lab Availability

To make use of the fab, lab, reserve the room for your use.

Marc Bolduc
There are a number of ways to get started with lasers and CNC machines and your ideas are welcomed! It's a perfect environment for learning anything along the lines of manufacturing. The way I look at it is that if you can think of something in your mind that you can make, then you can make it in this room!
