Elizabeth “Liz” Pape
Elizabeth “Liz” Pape, daughter, sister, wife, mother, CEO, volunteer, and, most cherished of all, grandmother, passed away peacefully in May 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A proud graduate of Smith College, Liz shared a deep sense of adventure with her beloved husband, Larry. Early in their marriage, they lived in Switzerland, where they developed a lasting appreciation for European culture and cuisine. They later traveled both abroad and across the United States. Together, they raised four children in a home where the kitchen was the heart.
In 1996, Liz co-founded Virtual High School (VHS), now VHS Learning, launching a pioneering online learning platform. As President and CEO, she led VHS to nonprofit status in 2001, transforming K-12 education with her visionary leadership.
After retiring in 2012, Liz remained deeply engaged in the community, including serving on the Board of Trustee’s for Quinsigamond Community College, where she fueled her passion for education.
