You might not need to test!

English: If you graduated high school within the last ten years, and you have a 2.7 GPA or higher, you do not need to test.  You are eligible to take ENG 101.

Math: If you graduated high school within the last three years, and you have a 2.7 GPA or higher, you will need to see an Advisor to determine if you need to test.  You may be eligible to take certain college-level math classes.

Any other new and currently enrolled students are required to take the Placement Test before registering for English and math courses and courses requiring a prerequisite of English or math. An Advisor will use the test results to help students select appropriate courses during registration.

QCC is currently using our own math test (QMAT) and the Next Generation Accuplacer English tests. The placement test is a computerized test that helps determine the appropriate level at which students should begin their mathematics and English courses. The test is not timed, but it can take two to three hours. The majority of the questions are multiple-choice.

ESL Placement: Students for whom English is a second language (ESL) may also take a computerized assessment test. The CELSA test requires a student to complete a story or conversation by choosing the correct answers to fill in the blanks. It is a timed test (45 minutes).

Prepare for your test: You should be prepared for testing. This test will determine which classes you will take, so you want to do your best.
