Citizenship Classes

Citizenship Prep Classes

Are you ready to become a US citizen? This 20 week course is designed to help prepare adult immigrants to successfully complete the naturalization process. This preparation includes developing English language skills and civics content knowledge, completing the N-400 form and practicing the civic questions to be successful at the naturalization interview.

Requirements

Interested applicants must be attending QCC ACLC ESOL Classes.

Students must be eligible to become citizens of the US

  • Be a Permanent Resident for at least 4 years or;
  • Be married to a US citizen and be a permanent resident for at least 2.5 years and,
  • Apply for citizenship after completion of program.

Schedule

  • Wednesday evenings: 11/02/2022 to 04/26/2023, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. OR
  • Friday Mornings: 11/04/2022 to 04/28/2023, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

What will we cover

  1. Personal Information

    1. Students will comfortably answer personal questions as well as carry small talk to show fluency of language.

  2. USA the Country

    1. Students will learn the geography of the USA
      • Map and Geography
      • States and Capitals
      • Famous landmarks
      • The Flag
      • US history in a flash: wars, civil rights movement, and 20th century U.S. history

  3. Civics and Government

    1. Students will understand the US form of government
      • Branches of the Government
      • The Constitution
    2. Learn the rights and duties of citizenship
  4. Prepare for the Interview
    1. As students learn about the USA geography, government and history, they will be preparing to understand and successfully answer any of the 100 questions listed for the Interview.
