QCC's Safety Committee

The Safety Committee's primary purpose is to provide a conduit to give the community direct input in the creation and sustainability of a safe working environment. It will give the community, identified as faculty, staff, and students, a voice to bring safety concerns, as well as suggestions to current policies and practices.

The committee will serve as an avenue to bridge the gap of communication between the community and the safety function of Quinsigamond Community College. Safety is defined as a state in which hazards and conditions leading to physical, psychological or material harm are controlled in order to preserve the health and well-being of individuals and the community.

The committee is comprised of representatives from Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Campus Police, Dean of Students Office, Communications, Human Resources and faculty members..

The committee has received recent questions, which we will be answering each month. Below please find the answers to a couple of questions that were received. Make sure to check back each month as more questions and answers will be posted.

What is the role/responsibility of faculty in a classroom when there is a situation of imminent danger?

The Safety Committee is in the process of hiring a consultant that will be responsible for setting up training programs.

Could staff have been given the option to stay on campus or finish their day from home after a situation involving imminent danger?

Management will be given guidance on when to allow for the release of employees.
