Welcome to the DEI Corner - We All Belong, a new diversity, equity, and inclusion section of the Wyvern Guardian Newsletter!

At Quinsigamond Community College, diversity, equity, and inclusion represent a commitment to changing institutional power structures, policies and practices that create systematic advantages for some and disadvantages for others. It is important that our College community understand, appreciate and educate themselves on just what Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) mean.

Starting with this issue of the Wyvern Guardian, each month we will share great stories, important resources, and upcoming events that all relate to DEI.

To understand just what DEI is all about at QCC, it is important to understand what groups are taking the lead on DEI.

  • The President’s Advisory Council on Equity (PACE)  - The President’s Advisory Council on Equity serves in an advisory role to the President of Quinsigamond Community College. PACE supports the College’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as reflected in the College’s mission statement and strategic plan.  PACE will craft recommendations to the President for action, including the development and implementation of initiatives that will lead to concrete reforms in college policies, procedures, and practices, to resolve institutional inequities related to all categories of difference.
  • The Diversity Caucus  - The Diversity Caucus amplifies and protects the College ideal of equal rights for all people. It fosters a spirit of inclusiveness by reflecting upon the contributions of age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socioeconomic status, ethnic heritage, and sexuality. The Diversity Caucus promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion by having cultural programming events to raise cultural awareness on campus. General membership is welcomed. The Diversity Caucus meets every 4th Thursday monthly from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Anyone can submit a proposal for funding by completing a Diversity Caucus form and submitting it to Selina Boria at sboria [at] or Brenda Safford at bsafford [at] Visit our Funding Request Forms.
  • The Diversity Council  - The Diversity Council promotes a culture that encourages personal development and growth, in an inclusive environment that maximizes everyone’s contributions to the College. The Diversity Council fosters strategic thinking, common approaches, and cross-functional practices for achieving diversity, equity, and inclusion at QCC. The Diversity Council is part of our Governance Structure. This enables the entire community to have a vital role in governing the College and through the integration of all councils, establishes and maintains productive and appropriate channels of communication.

You can find out everything you need to know about DEI at QCC’s Virtual Multicultural Center. On the site you will find a glossary of institutional definitions for diversity, equity and inclusion compiled by PACE.

We invite you to explore the site and learn about all the diversity, equity and inclusion work that is happening at QCC. To become involved, propose an idea, or share a story, please reach out to Diversity Caucus Co-Chairs Brenda Safford at bsafford [at] or Selina Boria at sboria [at]
