QCC's Homeplate Food Pantry and Resource Center has now moved indoors and is located in Room B63A in the Administration Building at the College's main campus.

QCC's Homeplate Food Pantry and Resource Center has officially moved indoors. The food pantry had its last day of outdoor food distribution on August 25 and will now move its services indoors. Thanks to funding from community partners, The United Way of Central Massachusetts and The Greater Worcester Community Foundation, extensive upgrades and renovations have been made to the food pantry and resource center to help increase capacity and efficiency.

The United Way of Central Massachusetts has donated funds for an electronic software system, “SmartChoice,” as well as food and related supplies. Through this electronic food pantry software, students can select prepackaged baskets of food in a safe, contact-free way.

The Greater Worcester Community Foundation awarded the College a Worcester County Food Bank Fund to End Hunger Grant that was used to purchase an industrial freezer, refrigerator and shelving for the food pantry. An official grand opening of the renovated space will be held in September.

"It's vitally important that we continue to offer these services to our students who struggle with food insecurity and homelessness. No one can succeed academically if they are hungry," said President Luis G. Pedraja, Ph.D. "QCC is the gateway to advanced educational and employment opportunities in Central Massachusetts and as such, we will do everything possible to ensure our students have the resources they need to succeed. When our students succeed, our community thrives and we all prosper."

In addition to the food pantry, the Center offers additional resources and assistance with fuel assistance, housing and other services to students in need.

Food Pantry services will now be offered daily in Room B63A in the Administration Building at a variety of different hours each day. For the most up-to-date hours visit QCC's Homeplate Food Pantry and Resource Center.
