QCC Welcomes New Staff

August 2016

We are very pleased to announce the following full-time staff update and the addition of a new full-time staff member to Quinsigamond Community College:

On August 1, 2016, Academic Affairs welcomed Peter Tamulis into a new role as Program Specialists, Grants. Mr. Tamulis has been working at Quinsigamond Community College as a Business Development Specialist since 2010. In his role he has developed and maintained relationships with companies throughout Central Massachusetts and worked with them to assess their needs for employee training and development. Prior to his experience at Quinsigamond Community College, he worked at several non-profit and for-profit companies in training and program development. Peter received a Bachelor’s of Arts in English at the College of the Holy Cross and a Master’s in Arts in Psychology and Counseling from Assumption College.  

On August 1, 2016, Administrative Services welcomed Michael Shea as Communications Dispatcher I. Michael comes to the college with experience as an emergency dispatcher with the Milford Police Department. Additionally, he has field radio service experience from the United States Marine Corps. Michael is certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch, CPR, CJIS, and CISM.

On August 1, 2016, QCC welcomed Dr. Jen Arner Welsh into her new role as Interim Dean of the School of Public Service and Social Sciences. Ms. Welsh has been with Quinsigamond Community College since 2009.  She brings into this role her experience as a tenured Professor of Psychology and Coordinator of the General Studies program, as well as many years of service to the College on Committees addressing NEASC Standards, Curriculum Review, Learning Council, and Transfer Advising. In addition, she has provided instruction at Fitchburg State University, Clark University and DePauw University on courses involving Psychology, Gender Issues and Sexual Assault, has prior higher education work experience in Residence Life and Financial Aid, and is a recipient of several honors and awards including the NISOD Excellence Award.  Ms. Welsh earned a B.A. in Psychology from Earlham College, Indiana, and both an M.A. and Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Clark University.

On August 15, 2016, Administrative Services welcomed Vanessa Landyn as Administrator for Healthcare and Workforce Development Center. Ms. Landyn has been working at Quinsigamond Community College since 2006. Most recently as an Administrative Secretary I. Ms. Landyn also brings to this position experience in the private sector as an office manager and project manager. Ms. Landyn earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and a Master in Business Administration from St. John’s University.

On August 22, 2016, Strategic Enrollment Development & Student Engagement welcomed Cynthia Adu-Gyamfi as Loan Coordinator/Disbursement Analyst. Ms. Adu-Gyamfi brings to the College over 5 years’ experience in the private sector as a mutual fund accountant and administrator. In addition, she has over 4 years of experience in customer service roles. She is also a member of the Air National Guard. Ms. Adu-Gyamfi earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Becker College.  

On August 24, 2016, Administrative Services welcomed Brian O’Neil into a new permanent role as Building Maintenance Supervisor I, a position he had been assigned to temporarily for the past three years. Brian’s overall experience includes 20 years of experience in property/facilities management from the private and public sector, and he holds several licenses and certifications, including a License in Construction Supervision.  Brian received a Certificate in HVAC/R from Bay State School of Appliances.

On August 29, 2016, Academic Affairs welcomed Pam Riendeau into a new role as Administrative Secretary I supporting the Dean of the School of Public Service and Social Sciences. Ms. Riendeau has been with Quinsigamond Community College for over 35 years - 30 years of which have been spent as a Clerk in the Registrar’s Office, in addition to two years as a Staff Associate for the Children’s School and three years as a Clerk in the Center for Lifelong Learning. Ms. Riendeau received a Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood Education from Worcester State University.  

On August 29, 2019 Strategic Enrollment Development & Student Engagement welcomed Tenisha Mincey back to QCC as CAPS Advisor. Ms. Mincey, who previously worked for QCC as an Academic Advisor for five years and as an Employment Specialist at Workforce Central for four years, also brings to this position three years of customer service and logistics experience in the private sector. Ms. Mincey received a Bachelor’s of Arts in English from Worcester State University and a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology.   

New Faculty

Biology

  • Dr. Archana Mudbidri, Assistant Professor of Biology – Archana brings to this position four years of teaching experience in higher education, most recently as an adjunct faculty member at Quinsigamond Community College and Becker College. In addition to her teaching experience she has also been a Postdoctoral Associate at Department of Food Science and Agriculture at the University of Florida at Gainesville. Archana earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Microbiology-Biochemistry from St. Xavier’s College, a Post Graduate Diploma in Ecology and Environment from Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment, a Master of Science in Microbiology from Goa University and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from University of Mysore.
  • Opeyemi Odewale, Assistant Professor of Biology – Opeyemi brings to this position over 3 years of teaching experience in higher education, most recently as an adjunct faculty member at Community College of RI and Massasoit Community College. He has also worked as a research analyst in both the academic and corporate setting. Opeyemi earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from University of Rhode Island-Kingston and a Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science from University of Rhode Island-Providence.

Dental Hygiene/Dental Assisting

  • Sue Graves, Assistant Professor of Dental Hygiene/ Dental Assisting – Sue brings to this position over 5 years of experience teaching in higher education, most recently as an adjunct faculty member at Quinsigamond Community College and Mount Wachusetts Community College. Additionally, she is a dental hygienist in private practice for 3 years. Prior to these experiences, she was a special education teacher for children 5-22 and an independent educational consultant for students with Individual Educational Plans. Sue earned an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene from Middlesex Community College, a Bachelor’s of Arts in English from Tufts University and a Master of Science in Education from Simmons College.
  • Jacklyn Ventura, Assistant Professor of Dental Hygiene/Dental Assisting – Jacklyn brings to this position over 25 years of dental hygiene experience in both private practice as well as in public dental health. Additionally, she has taught at the college level for 4 years at Mount Ida College and as an adjunct instructor at Cape Code Community College. She has also help found a company that partnered with elementary schools to increase awareness of dental hygiene health and education for under-served populations in southeastern Massachusetts. Jacklyn earned an Associate of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from Bristol Community College, a Bachelor’s of Arts in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Science in Higher Education from Eastern Nazarene College. 

Early Childhood Education

  • Dr. Tanzil Khan, Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education – Tanzil brings to this position over 15 years of experience teaching students in the Pre-K to 12 grade environment as well as higher education, most recently as a Lecturer at University of California, Irvine. Tanzil has earned an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Cypress College, a Bachelor’s of Arts in Family and Consumer Sciences, Child Development and Family Studies and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education from California State University, Long Beach, and a Doctoral Degree in Organizational Leadership Programing from Pepperdine University.

Math

  • Dr. Ibar Delacruz, Assistant Professor of Math – Ibar brings to this position over 8 years of experience teaching in higher education, most recently as an adjunct faculty member at Quinsigamond Community College. He has also worked in the tutoring center here and taught mathematics in Peru. Ibar earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics at Universidad Nacional De Ingenieria, a Master of Science in Physics and a Ph.D. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

History

  • Dr. Benjamin Wendorf, Assistant Professor of History – Benjamin brings to this position over 4 years of lecturing experience in higher education, most recently at Brandeis University. Benjamin earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in History and English from University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, a Master of Arts Degree in African History and a Ph.D. in African and African Diaspora Studies from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  

Nursing

  • Kendra Wright, Assistant Professor of Nurse Education, A.D.N. (Day) – Kendra brings to this position over 6 years of Critical Care experience. Additionally she has taught as an adjunct faculty member at Quinsigamond Community College and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Services for a semester. Kendra earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from St. Joseph’s College and a Master in Nursing Education from Western Governors University.
  • Jane Macharia, Assistant Professor of Nurse Education, P.N. Program (evening) – Jane brings to this position over 26 years of clinical nursing experience overseas and in the United States, most recently at Saint Vincent Hospital. She also has been an adjunct faculty member at Mount Wachusetts Community College and Anna Maria College. Jane earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Kenya Medical Training College, a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Liberty University, and a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
  • Jennifer Beccia, Assistant Professor of Nurse Education, A.D.N. (Day) – Jennifer brings to this position over 10 years’ teaching experience most recently as a lecturer at University of Massachusetts Graduate School of Nursing and as an adjunct faculty member at Massachusetts Bay Community College where she was also an assistant professor for 7 years. She has also worked as a postoperative surgical nurse for 16 years. Jennifer earned an Associate of Science in Nursing from Quinsigamond Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing/Education from Framingham State University. 
  • Sheri Boisseau, Associate Professor of Nurse Education, A.D.N. Program (evening) – Sheri is moving from the A.D.N. program (Day) to the A.D.N. program (Evening). She has over 5 years of teaching experience here at QCC. Additionally, she has over 15 years’ experience as a Director of Health Services programs at several facilities. Before becoming a director, she was a clinical nurse for 11 years. Sheri earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Rhode Island, a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Phoenix and she is currently enrolled in a Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Regis College.
  • Margaret Motyka, Professor of Nurse Education, P.N. Program (Day) – Margaret is moving from the P.N. program (Evening) to the P.N. program (Day). She has over 30 years of teaching experience, with 8 years teaching at QCC. Prior to her teaching experience at QCC she taught at Mount Wachusetts Community College and Worcester Hahnemann Hospital. Before she started teaching, she was a clinical nurse working in postpartum, labor, and delivery wards. Margaret earned a Diploma from Worcester Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing, a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Worcester State university and a Master of Science in Women’s Health Nursing from Boston College.
  • Meghan McCrillis, Associate Professor of Nurse Education, A.D.N. (Day) – Meghan is moving from the PNP program to the A.D.N. program. She has over 7 years of teaching experience here at QCC. In addition to teaching at QCC she has also taught at Worcester State University and has been a nurse in private practices. Meghan earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Worcester State University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, and is currently enrolled in  a Doctorate of Nursing Practice program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
