Governor Baker to Hold Career Tech Initiative Roundtable Discussion at WTHS

  • Worcester Superintendent of Schools, Maureen Binienda
  • QCC President Dr. Luis Pedraja
  • WTHS Principal Kyle Brenner
  • Director of WTHS Night Life, Liz Tiley
  • Six adult students who are currently in HVAC, plumbing and welding programs at WTHS

The goal of the Career Tech Initiative is to expand the capacity of vocational high schools by running three teaching shifts a day so that over the next four years more than 20,000 additional residents gain skills in the trades.  Worcester Technical High School partners with Quinsigamond Community College, which runs the HVAC evening program.  Quinsigamond Community College received a $431,900 Skills Capital Grant to upgrade the equipment at the high school to run the adult HVAC program. The HVAC program is a credit-bearing certificate program run by QCC. The plumbing and welding programs are both workforce credential programs that aligns to the Career Tech Initiative and future apprenticeships.

WHERE: Worcester Technical High School, 1 Skyline Drive, Worcester, MA. 01605 (event begins with a tour of the HVAC shop- entrance on the side of the building, just beyond the skywalk)
