QCC’s International Honor Society Holds First Annual 5K Walk/Run; All Proceeds Benefit Worcester Public Library Bookmobile, Lilly

Worcester, MA – October 8, 2014 – On Saturday, October 11, QCC’s International Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Alpha Zeta Theta Chapter will hold its first annual 5K Walk/Run at QCC’s Worcester location, 670 West Boylston Street. All proceeds will benefit the Worcester Public Library Bookmobile, Lilly.  Pre-registration is available until October 10 for a fee of $25 by calling the PTK Office at 508. 854.7412 or emailing: bonniec [at] qcc.mass.edu. Registration is also available at the event for a fee of $30 and registration forms are also online at: http://www.qcc.edu/student-life.

PTK student members collectively select charitable causes and raise funds throughout the year to satisfy the honor society’s requirement of public service. PTK eligibility also includes enrollment and QPA requirements. QCC’s PTK chapter has been named New England Region’s Most Distinguished Chapter, 2011, 2012, and 2013 and recognized nationally as one of PTK’s Most Distinguished Top 100 Chapters in 2013 and 2014.

“Involvement with the Worcester Public Library’s Bookmobile, Lilly, was a natural extension of the high values placed on education here at QCC,” said PTK Advisor, Bonnie Coleman. Lilly is stocked with over 2,500 children’s books, technology and other items and will visit over 32 Worcester Public elementary schools, as well as private and charter schools during the school year. Funds raised will help promote literacy and keep Lilly on the road! “We’re excited to be involved with Lilly and help such a worthwhile cause,” said PTK President Micah Klayman.
