Worcester, MA – November 25, 2013 – On November 22, the Grainger Foundation donated $10,000 to Quinsigamond Community College’s Foundation in support of its educational and training programs in Advanced Manufacturing and Electronics Engineering Technology programs. Representative Michael Hanlon, Branch Manager of Grainger’s Worcester location presented QCC’s President Dr. Gail Carberry with a check earmarked for specific equipment for both programs. This is the second consecutive year that the Grainger Foundation awarded QCC $10,000 for equipment. Last year’s award helped to purchase equipment for the HVAC/R program.

Coordinators and professors from both programs, Lee Duerden (Advanced Manufacturing) and James Heffernan (Electromechanical Technology) thanked Grainger for the award and expressed what it means to be able to offer training equipment for their students. Professor Heffernan will purchase a  training robot and Professor Duerden will purchase a new wide format plotter to support learning outcomes for various Manufacturing and Technology programs.

QCC President Dr. Gail Carberry said, “We are pleased and proud to have the support of such a wonderful partner in the community. It’s a long-standing mutually beneficial relationship and one which we value highly.“
“We are proud to recommend the programs offered by Quinsigamond Community College,” said Hanlon.  “We understand the need for advanced educational opportunities in Central Massachusetts.”
