Worcester, MA – January 3, 2013 – Quinsigamond Community College has been selected as a 2013 Community College Futures Assembly Bellwether Finalist in the category of Planning, Governance and  Finance (PGF). The Bellwether Award recognizes programs or activities that have been designed and successfully implemented to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the community college. The call for nominations was issued during the fall semester. The QCC program is one of ten finalists.

The Bellwether Award is presented annually by the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Florida during the Community College Futures Assembly (CCFA) conference. The CCFA conference will be held this year in Orlando, Florida on January 28, where finalists have been invited to make presentations that provide evidence of program results. One winner will be selected from each category by a panel of national experts within each category and the winners will be announced on January 30 at the CCFA annual meeting.

The conference will focus on the extent community colleges are prepared to address the needs of the future workforce, identify potential gaps, and develop recommendations for future policy makers. The CCFA, now in its 20th year, convenes annually as an independent national policy forum for key opinion leaders to work as a “think tank” in identifying critical issues facing the future of community colleges, and to recognize Bellwether Finalist colleges as trend-setting institutions.
