WORCESTER, Ma – The Quinsigamond Community College/ARTSWorcester Art Gallery opens a new exhibit on Tuesday, February 5, with a display of prints by local artist Kathy Murray.  Her collection, titled, “Figurative Language,” will be on display through April 4 at the QCC Administration Building Corridor Art Gallery, at 670 West Boylston Street.

The public is invited to attend the opening night reception on February 5 starting at 6 p.m. in Conference Room 123A. A gallery walk with the artist will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Admission is always free, and regular viewing hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 pm., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

On display will be monotypes made by using ordinary materials and clothing. “Much of the work I am exhibiting is a variety of prints made by using pieces of clothing to suggest human gesture, attitude, and identity as a subject matter,” Murray adds.  “Part of any creative endeavor involves the ability to see, interpret, or use ordinary materials in new ways.”
