WORCESTER, Ma – Quinsigamond Community College (QCC) is proud to announce it has joined the EMC® Academic Alliance program, becoming the first community college to join more than one hundred universities and colleges worldwide that are collaborating with EMC Corporation to adapt their curriculums to offer new courses focused on information management and storage technology.

The EMC Academic Alliance program was established by EMC Education Services to meet the growing need for formal information management and storage education and certification in the marketplace.  Through the program, Quinsigamond will offer a course designed by EMC Education Services that will educate students on the concepts and principles of information management and storage technology and provide them with a foundation for designing and managing information infrastructures made up of technologies from multiple vendors. The course will be available in January 2008 and will be taught by Quinsigamond faculty members trained by EMC Education Services.

Tom Clancy, EMC Corporation’s Vice President of Education Services and Productivity, said, “As a leader in information infrastructure technology, EMC understands the importance of laying strong foundations for the education of the technology innovators of tomorrow.  That is why we are pleased to work with Quinsigamond to build a robust curriculum that encourages and empowers students to pursue successful careers in information management and storage technology, an area of the IT industry that continues to be opportunity-rich for the future workforce.”

As part of Quinsigamond’s and EMC’s collaboration, EMC will also provide the opportunity for Quinsigamond students to pursue full-time summer internships across the company.

“Working with an information technology leader such as EMC, Quinsigamond is reinforcing our position as a manufacturing and technology-focused institution,” stated Gail Carberry, President of Quinsigamond.  “We are thrilled with this relationship and the new opportunities it will bring to our students.”
