Flu Clinic Offered at QCC

Release Date:
12/4/2006

WORCESTER, Ma.— Quinsigamond Community College’s Nursing II students, in conjunction with the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Massachusetts (VNA), will host a flu clinic for seniors citizens, high risk population, those with chronic health problems, and health care workers.

Flu shots will be given for free, only to those specific groups, on Saturday, December 9, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The clinic will be held on the QCC campus in the Harrington Learning Center, room 109.  Handicapped access is available.

Spearheaded by Kathy Rozanski, professor of Nurse Education at QCC, the clinic is a unique community service and educational project for the Nursing II students.  Approximately twenty of the current Nursing II students will take part in the event.  In addition to QCC’s Nursing students, VNA nurses will be on hand to guide attendees through the process and answer questions regarding the flu shot and influenza.

“We are very excited as this is the first time Quinsigamond has had the opportunity to work closely with the VNA on a project of this nature,” stated Rozanski.  “Plus, it will be great good will to the community.”

This is the first flu clinic hosted by Quinsigamond, and it should prove to be excellent service learning for Nursing students.  Rozanski is hoping it becomes an annual event for the College’s Nursing program.  A snow date has been set for December 10.
