WORCESTER –   The Quinsigamond Community College/ARTSWorcester Art Gallery opens a new exhibit on Tuesday, September 12 with a display of works by Pamela Redick.  Her collection, titled, “Natural Selections,” will be on display through October 12, 2006 at the QCC Administration Building Corridor Art Gallery, at 670 West Boylston Street.

The public is invited to attend the opening night reception on September 12th starting at 6:00 p.m. in Conference Room 123A.  Admission is always free, and regular viewing hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Through acrylic paintings, drawings, and mixed media drawings, Redick will share her impressions of places around Massachusetts and Baxter State Park in Maine.

Redick calls these particular paintings her “visual poems,” as many reflect her experience of being rescued after suffering a broken leg on mountain climbing trip in Baxter.

“After recovering from the injury, this work about nature and place just poured out of me,” Redick adds.

Her spray paintings, using automotive spray paint, are also about nature.  They use natural material and handmade stencils “to achieve a spontaneous and accidental realism.”
