October 22, 2021 - Medicat/Vaccine

Thank you for being a Wyvern! We hope you are having a successful and productive Fall semester. On September 20, 2021, Quinsigamond Community College released a vaccination policy that requires all faculty, staff and students to be fully vaccinated by January 3, 2022. To help ensure compliance with this policy, the College has adopted a Web-based solution, Medicat, which will be used to record and manage Covid-19 vaccination records. Medicat is a premier electronic health record solution that has been adopted by many colleges and universities throughout the country. It is simple to use and offers ironclad security and inviolable privacy.

Students who are fully vaccinated and planning on taking Winter/Intersession or Spring classes:

If you are fully vaccinated and planning on taking Winter/Intersession or Spring classes, please upload your proof of vaccination to Medicat. The process is easy, can be accessed by your computer or mobile device, and can be completed in a few short steps following our illustrated instructions. Medicat is linked in this email, but may also be accessed via the QCC Mobile App or QCC.edu/HealthySafeCampus.

Students who are not fully vaccinated:

Please note that the vaccination policy is still being finalized, but you will need to be fully vaccinated by January 3, or before the beginning of classes. A list of vaccination clinics is available at https://vaxfinder.mass.gov/.

  • Winter/Intersession classes begin January 3, 2022.
    • In order to meet this deadline, you must receive all shots of your preferred Covid-19 vaccine by December 20, 2021.
  • Spring classes begin January 19, 2022.
    • In order to meet this deadline, you must receive all shots of your preferred Covid-19 vaccine by January 5, 2022.

To help illustrate the time it takes to be considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 based on your preferred vaccination, QCC has created a Vaccination Timeline.

If you are concerned about the safety or efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for more information. The CDC site provides information on  Myths & Facts and Finding Credible Vaccine Information.

If you choose to remain unvaccinated, you have the option to take online classes. Vaccinations are still required for online students to participate in on-campus activities such as to receive in-person services (tutoring, mentoring, etc.), participate in student life events, or visit our library or bookstore.

More information regarding the vaccination policy will be provided soon. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact covid19 [at] qcc.mass.edu.
