QCC and WPI Partnership
QCC’s workforce development acumen and WPI’s industry/technology heritage and are perfectly suited for this joint practice lab (LEAP). QCC’s expertise in Electronics/Photonics technology and workforce training programs, coupled with WPI’s 150-plus years of industry partnerships and collaboration make this a critical collaboration that will advance the photonics industry and labor workforce in Worcester County and throughout the Northeast corridor. WPI and QCC will develop teaching and training materials for education of university students and industry personnel both, in theoretical and in practical aspects. Additionally, the universities will coordinate educational paths and workforce development programs with other educational partners.
Photonics is an exciting, dynamic career field that is projected to grow steadily as these new Photonics applications are developed to support manufacturing, telecommunications, medical devices and systems, security systems, clean energy systems, research, etc.
QCC offers a robust academic program in the Photonics, Engineering and Manufacturing fields that includes Associate Degrees in:
- Electronics Engineering Technology - Biomedical Instrumentation Option
- Electronics Engineering Technology - Mechatronics Option
