What are you studying?

I am a Human Services Major. I enjoy helping other people because I went through so much personal pain. I’ve learned that my career should be something I love and am passionate about.

Why did you choose QCC?

I chose QCC because I was a student here in 2007; it was a very hard year for me. I lost both my mother and my grandmother and I had to drop out. I came back because I wanted to prove to myself that I could succeed in college despite the devastating loss of two family members who supported my college goals.

What’s the best thing about QCC?

The people I work with at the Fuller Student Center are always so welcoming and willing to help students. It's also where all the fun is – the student trips and activities are planned there, many clubs meet there and there’s always students hanging out, meeting friends and classmates. It’s fun and inviting. Everyone who comes in, always leaves with a sense of belonging, which is really important to a lot of students.

Anything else you’d care to share about attending QCC?

The challenges, experiences, and classes I’ve had here at QCC have helped me to prepare for my career and for my future. The people I’ve met and who I work with currently have supported me and my goals and have made me feel welcome and part of the QCC Family. In fact, they are my family now and without that additional support, I don’t think I’d have become the solid student, leader and employee that I am today.
